The team meet every three weeks to target a major litter hotspot in Bitterne, which is said to be "a great way to deal with stress".
Thirty-two volunteers, pictured, turned out on January 26 to clean Bitterne Precinct for an hour, meeting near the rear entrance to the main Sainsburys to target that car park and adjacent areas but, reported organiser David Eddy, "with such great numbers, we were able to cover most of the precinct and also down as far as the part of Freemantle Common between Spring Road and Redlands Drive".
He said three young people have become enthusiastic members of the group and did an excellent job.
Equipment is sponsored by The Humble Plumb pub, Southampton City Council and donations from the community.
“There’s no firm commitment. If you are free on the day we meet, please join us to make a difference,” is the team's policy.
