Breathing Spaces, a community project that’s collecting data in St Denys on local air quality, is looking for more residents and organisations keen to host a sensor box.

So far two air quality sensors have been installed in St Denys, and further installations are scheduled.
Boxes measure real-time levels of particulate matter as well as temperature and humidity, according to the project’s website, which describes Breathing Spaces as a “community project in Southampton, which has at its heart clean air, liveable streets and increased health & wellbeing.”
It says the aim is to “develop a robust evidence base on air quality in the area and give a voice to local concerns, such as ‘rat running’ and poor air quality from congested main roads”.
“We are also developing some mapping which will capture everyone’s comments and ideas – we’d love to try out and support some your creative solutions for healthy streets!” says the site.
If you’d like to find out more you can contact Breathing Spaces online at https://breathingspaces.org.uk/contact/, and get together over tea and cake on Saturday, March 16 at St Denys Church hall from 3-5pm.
This is billed as “a chance for you to meet the team, learn a bit more about the project and contribute your thoughts on how we can have cleaner air and healthier streets in St Denys”.
