It takes place on Tuesday March 19, 2019, from 10am to 4pm.
The free-to-attend event for those who provide unpaid care to a family member or friend, or who are in a job that helps carers in any way, is designed to give attendees the opportunity to try out the different products, enjoy demonstrations from care technology experts, discuss the day-to-day challenges of looking after someone and find out what other carers have found useful.
Technology providers will be showing their newest innovations and services that can help carers to be more independent and better able to live their own life alongside their caring role.
Organisers say technologies on show can help carers coordinate care, manage medicines, cope with anxiety, get alerts in case of emergency and allow them to check in on their loved ones even when they can’t be physically there. They say it’s also a fantastic opportunity for carers to find out more about support on offer to them and network with other carers in a friendly and supportive environment.
Carers in Southampton, a local carers support organisation, will be in attendance to talk to carers and agency staff about the services they can provide to carers, including carers’ assessments and planning for emergencies.
Councillor Lorna Fielker, cabinet member for adult care, said: “This will be a great opportunity to meet like-minded people, see what is currently available for carers and their families and also get a glimpse of new innovations being developed to help increase independence and reduce the pressure on the role as carer.”
Carers can book a free lunch, which will be available 12.30-1.30pm.
