UPDATED A woman was robbed in Osborne Road South as she walked towards the footbridge from the Dolphin pub side over Thomas Lewis Way on Thursday evening (Feb 28) at around 10pm.
She was approached by a man and woman who threatened her. Police say no weapon was seen.
They took two bags she was carrying, which were later recovered along with a purse, but £40 cash had been removed.
A police spokesperson said officersare investigating, and asked anyone with information to call them on 101 quoting 44190072678.
Portswood councillor John Savage (Lab) commented: "There seems to have been two recent cases of muggings in the area plus numerous break-ins to vehicles and bike thefts. I have a meeting coming up with the new superintendent for Southampton, and I'm concerned that this area is being seen as easy pickings for local criminals.
"I believe we need an improved response and police presence to deal with these problems."
