Friends of Cobbett Road Library have organised a book trail around Bitterne Park enabling locals to: “Walk around your community, pick up a new book and take an old one back for someone else to enjoy!”
Article continues after this message...
Known as 'Open Pages', it was conceived to celebrate World Book Day, and runs throughout March.
It signposts formal and informal spaces where participants can swap, exchange or borrow books for free.
A (larger) PDF of the trail leaflet/map can be viewed/downloaded from the Friends' website here, and they're also available at the library and many shops around the Triangle.
The Friends highlight that this is their first activity beyond the walls and garden of Cobbett Road Hub and Library, saying: "We wanted to celebrate the community spirit and love for reading and exchanging books inside and outside our library".
They tried to present all the activities and book swaps in our area. However, they stress: "This is the first year of our book trail; we hope it will grow every year and become an annual event for the community. If we missed something important from the map, or if others would like to get involved for the next trail in March 2020, this would be very welcome."
If you would like to get involved in next year's trail, email the FoCRL on friends.cobbettroadlibrary(at)gmail.com.
