Awaaz Radio 99.8FM has invited the candidates from Bevois, Portswood, Shirley and Swaythling wards to hustings at the station over the next fortnight.

Candidates, or their party representatives, will be given two minutes each to talk about “themselves as a person rather than as a candidate”, which will then followed by a question about what they’ll be doing for their ward.

Following this, listener questions will be put to the candidates.

Hustings will be broadcast as follows:

  • Tuesday, April 23 – Portswood ward
  • Wednesday, April 24 – Bevois ward
  • Monday, April 29 – Shirley ward
  • Tuesday, April 30 – Swaythling ward

All hustings will be broadcast at 1pm on Awaaz, which is on 99.8 FM in Southampton, and online from www.awaazfm.co.uk.

Hustings will be simulcast on Spanish/Latin sister community station Fiesta FM, launched in Southampton on 95 FM in September 2018.

Awaaz said there’s limited audience space in the studio, so if residents want to go in to the London Road studio, opposite the law courts, and put questions directly, that is possible: contact the station via their website for more information.
