christmas in the triangle graphic 2019 460As well as plenty for the kids - from Father Christmas to a drama activity and glitter tattoos – there will be more attractions for adults at the Triangle event this year, which starts at the later time of 3pm.

Grownups can shop for gifts from several stall holders, as well as from local shops, perhaps get something to eat from a Triangle trader (Miss Ellie’s, for example, is offering a stripped-down Christmas menu), and even track down a boozy coffee (Track 21), mulled wine and mince pie, or get a crafty craft beer (or craft beer gift) from the Butcher’s Hook.

Meanwhile Triangle sources reveal that Father Christmas is likely to be at the Ink Factory tattoo shop, The Little Hair Company will be offering glitter tattoos, and Pyjama Drama will be in the Old Chemist from 4pm-4.30pm with an interactive Christmas drama aimed children (especially 2-5-year-olds). You’ll also find a film running afterwards and some warm space if needed.

There will be a treasure hunt running for the duration of the event from Track 21 Interiors: “Children can collect a sheet then look around in the shops at the Triangle for letters which they will us to make a word/phrase on their sheet, and return it for a little treat,” said Track 21’s Kerry Amies.

Although there’s no ‘living nativity’ with animals this time, there will also be carol singers on the Triangle itself, which this year is festooned with Christmas lights, and you can even buy a candle (hardware shop), or an LED version, to glow as darkness falls.

“Ideally it’s for everybody. It isn’t just geared to the kids,” said Cathy Baker from Darn It & Stitch, who’s one of the organisers, although she stressed individual shops are largely ‘doing their own things’.

“I think it will just be lovely – the fact that it’s later in the day, so it’s going to get dark, so we can appreciate the lights, we can have candles, fairy lights – whatever people are doing. It just has a bit more atmosphere doesn’t it.”

This is in no way an exhaustive list of attractions, so why not take a trip down to the Triangle on the afternoon yourself and find out what else is happening? You’ll be supporting the traders, and you could pick up a little something for Christmas, get a drink and a bite to eat – while getting together with others from your community.
