As the Tories win their biggest majority since the 80s, Conservative Royston Smith has held on to his Southampton Itchen seat with an increased majority, while Labour’s Alan Whitehead has held on to Southampton Test, but with a reduced majority.

In Itchen, where Smith beat Labour’s Simon Letts by just 31 votes in 2017, the Conservative increased his majority to 4,498.

The full results were:
- SMITH Royston Matthew - The Conservative Party Candidate - 23,952
- SEN-CHADUN Osman Rashid - Green Party - 1,040
- LETTS Simon Jonathan - Labour Party - 19,454
- JARVIS Liz - Liberal Democrats - 2,503
- ROSE Kim - UKIP - 472
The turnout was 65.8%
Meanwhile in Southampton Test Alan Whitehead held on to the seat, but his 11,503 majority was reduced to 6,213.

- GALTON Steven Graham Patrick - The Conservative Party Candidate – 16,043
- BARBOUR Katherine Jane - Green Party – 1,433

- RICHARDS Joe - Liberal Democrat –3,449
The turnout was 64.4%.
