The school closed on Monday as a precautionary measure while an enhanced clean took place, on the advice of Public Health England.
As of Thursday morning (Feb 13) the school in Midanbury Lane, Bitterne Park, has reopened its doors and confirmed that there are no cases of novel coronavirus.
Executive head teacher Claire Charlemagne communicated with parents yesterday afternoon to inform them of the good news.
The school said in a statement that "parents were clearly delighted to hear the news", reporting that one parent had commented: "Great result. This was handled brilliantly by the school, ensuring that the children's welfare was paramount at all times, and that they were not concerned unduly. Well done to all the staff involved. Many thanks!"
The school governors released the following statement:
"The governors are very appreciative of the actions of all members of the school community, especially the Executive Headteacher and members of the Senior Leadership Team during the recent coronavirus concerns.
"We recognise and praise their diligence and the professionalism of the staff in the highly efficient application of procedures for dealing with such a difficult issue, including seeking and acting upon advice from the relevant health authorities.
"We would also like to acknowledge and give great credit to the pupils for a calm and mature response. Finally, we would like to thank our parents for their outstanding support and greatly appreciated understanding throughout."
