Coffee from specialist suppliers and roasters Routes in Oxford will be available at ''The Muse Coffee Company', with an ever-changing choice of blends. Food-wise the business will sell sandwiches, patisseries and “lovely cakes”.
“We’re going to be that local community centre for people to come out and just hang out and have that local feel, instead of always going to your typical branded places. It will just be a nice cosy place for people to come and socialise with one another,” said manager Bilal Mabood.
He added that the plan is not to sell alcohol as there are plenty of nearby establishments doing that, but “coffee is a good alternative for people to come and socialise”.
The new business hopes to open mid-April: “Anything earlier is a bonus for us,” said Bilal.
The Crafty Fox
The Crafty Fox micropub, which sold craft beer as well as hot drinks, opened in August 2018 and closed the next summer.
The building housed a Costa until October 2017. Before that it was an HSBC bank branch.
