Most of the space within the pub will be closed off to the public, with a two customer limit inside, the Hook announced today on Instragram.
Reduced hours announced will be Wed/Thur 6pm-9pm, and Fri-Sun 4pm-8pm.
Local deliveries will be available from Thursday for those self isolating and in the at risk categories, and the pub says it is “Moving towards online orders and payments with collection and delivery options”.
“Helping people come together to have a good chat over a beer is really at the heart of what we do so it is with a very heavy heart that we will be changing how we operate at the Hook,” says the Instagram post, which is here.
“This is a challenging time for us and our friends in the beer and hospitality industry and we very much appreciate your support,” it concludes
On the Butcher’s Hook website there is a more detailed statement, which also appeals for anyone who is feeling unwell or at risk not to visit.
“For those in this group we will attempt to offer a delivery service within the Bitterne Park area from tomorrow as long as we are not totally overrun. Just send us your order through our contact form on our website before 4pm and we will send over payment details and confirm an estimated delivery time.”
The website post concludes:
“This will be a difficult time for all of us and the current situation poses a particular challenge within our industry. We rely on you to drink beer to pay our staff and to pay the breweries who made your beer so that they can pay their staff and also their suppliers. We know it's going to be harder for you to keep that first link in the chain going but your continued support in these difficult times is very much appreciated by all involved.”
