“We already have quite a queue forming and with reduced capacity it will take some time for the vehicles already waiting to get access. Please consider waiting a little longer for your visit,” tweeted Southampton City Council just before 10am.
Hours are restricted to 10am – 4pm to “ensure the site can be thoroughly cleaned each day”, with only a limited number of vehicles allowed on site at a time.
There’s more information about the arrangements on the council’s website.
Update: Later in the day the council tweeted that the queue for the centre was two hours long. "Please consider carefully whether your visit is essential and if possible delay a little longer," they said on Twitter.
SCC also said given the centre closed at 4pm they'd be stopping people joining the queue from 2pm.
