The ‘Southampton Nurdle Report’, produced by local Surfers Against Sewage reps, highlights plastic pollution in the area – and in particular the ongoing problem of ‘nurdles’, plastic pellets used by manufacturers.

Rose Nicole, a local volunteer with the Friends of Chessel Bay group, said it was great to see the report: “The Friends have been involved in clean-ups in the Bay for some time now, but the continued build-up of nurdles, and much else besides, has been a real challenge,” she said.

Findings were reported to the Environment Agency and “an investigation was ongoing”, according to the Surfers Against Sewage report, which is here.
