Around £200 was taken, with the burglary believed to have been reported by a neighbour. Police arrived at around 1.45 am.
“We got here this morning at half past nine as we normally do, to find literally someone had kicked in the big window on the side of the shop and rifled through the till and took all of our money that was in till,” said owner Terry Hackett, pictured by the broken window.
Officers dealt with securing the premises, leaving a note for the owners to find this morning.
They later returned to take fingerprints.
“We’re just the latest shop in Bitterne Park Triangle to be hit by burglars. There’s been a spree down this place,” said Terry.

Damage from the Il Picchio break-in
“The vape shop has been hit twice ... Diamond Pizzas was hit I think last week; Graham Cotton’s the bakers was hit a couple of years ago; the Chinese shop [Golden River] was hit a couple of years ago ... the hairdresser up the alleyway was hit twice; the bike shop was hit twice; the secondhand furniture shop was hit once [Piper’s Emporium had an attempted break-in]; and the garage here [Hilton Motors] has also been hit.”
As reported, burglars also broke in to SOS Tools and Hardware in July.

Boarded up window at the Triangle cafe
Terry said that he thought it was burglars who go from one area to another. He added that he thought CCTV would make a big difference for both traders and the public at the Triangle, and he hoped useful private CCTV footage would assist.
“We’ll be closed until we can get the window and the place made safe for customers to come back again.
“It’s just an added downer on top of the virus thing. Having just had this ‘eat out to help out’ which has been a success for us, now this happens. So any custom we might have generated will have now fizzled away because we won’t be open to accept them.”
