Libraries Week - an annual celebration of libraries and the best they have to offer – takes place this week from October 5 – 10, including virtual activities on Southampton Libraries’ Facebook page.

Southampton City Council says the celebration “is particularly poignant this year given the important role libraries have played in supporting people throughout the pandemic”.
It says even whilst closed Southampton libraries have been “supporting communities since April with befriending calls, library home book deliveries, Select and Collect and online activities”.
“Many of the virtual and remote support for the community is still available, even though the majority of our libraries are now open for book borrowing, bookable PCs and study space.
