On October 26 the school sent a letter [pdf from school’s website] to parents and carers saying there had been a further three students testing positive over the weekend, in Year 13, Year 10 and Year 7.
And in a subsequent letter on October 27 [school pdf] the school said it had been made aware that a further two students, in Year 11 and Year 10, and a teacher who had been self-isolating since October 24, had received positive results.
Letters also detail the number of close contacts identified in each case (from zero to in one case 61), who are being told they need to self isolate, and give further information about the virus.
A school spokesperson said: “The school have been working extremely hard over the weekend and the past few days of the half term break track and tracing any of the close contact related to the cases at the school and informing parents of this.”
Southampton City Council said in a Covid-19 update on Friday (Oct 23) that Southampton cases are again increasing: “Going forward, we expect COVID-19 cases to continue rising in line with the national trend. However, every resident, employer, employee, and visitor of Southampton can make a difference to how steep the rise in cases is; by complying with the public health measures stated below [see ‘Key public health measures’ in the council’s newsletter] we can all help to slow the spread of infection and minimise the climb in cases.”
Southampton city’s Covid-19 weekly summary until October 21 shows 1,734 city cases since March 4, with 246 in the last 7 days (+90 change over a seven-day period).
