Cobbett Road escapes cuts

opening times signCobbett Road Library opening hours will remain unchanged under revised Tory budget proposals, although some other branch libraries, and a range of other organisations, will see funding cuts.

The change of heart comes after the community campaign to resist cuts to hours and put the case for Cobbett Road. “Within the budget proposal we have put back Ł30,000 which will allow Cobbett Road library opening hours to remain unchanged. We hope to receive future support from the community and voluntary help,” said Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture Cllr John Hannides.

Budget proposals still need to be ratified at the full council meeting on Wednesday February 20.
