Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) confirmed that the fault occurred in and around the Bullar Road and Riverdene Place area shortly after 10.22 pm.
The company said that on the "rare occasions there is a power cut" its priority is to restore supplies safely and as quickly as possible, and that within two minutes of the fault occuring, automated technology restored power to 1,917 of affected properties.
It said everyone's power was back on by 5.05 am on Tuesday, and that teams will be continuing to investigate and carry out repairs.
A spokesperson from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), said: "We would like to apologise to our customers who were affected by this power cut and assure them our teams did all they could to restore supplies as safely and as quickly as possible."

The SSEN website listed 174 postcodes under reference GV4860, as I was monitoring it. Looked like the entirety of SO18.

When we initially phoned to report it they said ~1000 homes affected.
Seemingly still not fixed, but there's been a backup generator running since 05.10.
