Although it seems that Bitterne Park’s Cobbett Road Library will escape the current round of cuts, libraries at Burgess Road, Woolston, Thornhill and Weston still face a 9.5 hour a week reduction in opening times.
The Love our Libraries campaign is asking people to approach their local school to encourage them to join in. It says the following schools are already in the process of being approached:
Bitterne Manor
St Monica’s
Sholing Junior
Glenfield
Beechwood
Hope Lodge
Bassett Green
Thornhill Primary
St Patrick’s primary
Weston Park Junior
Tannersbrook
Oakwood infant and junior
Regents Park Community Pre-school
Redbridge Primary
Portswood Primary
Swaythling primary
St Denys Primary

- There is a trades council meeting at the Friends Meeting house at 7.30pm on February 6 to plan a lobby of the council for the meeting on February 20.
- Borrowing more items is another way to support your local library. If you usually attend an event or meeting at your library, why not take a look around and take out some items while you’re there?
