Council contractors Balfour Beatty said they have "planned to remove the brick wall and carry out repairs to the footway on Bitterne Park Triangle" to "improve the connectivity around Bitterne Park Triangle."
The work is expected to start on Monday, February 22 and last for around three weeks.
Wall and pavement at Triangle - presumably those in question.
Balfour Beatty said in publicity: "To carry out the work safely, we will require a 24/7 full road closure on Manor Farm Road from the junction with A3035 Cobden Avenue northwards to the junction with Manor Farm Road (spur). There will also be a footway closure on Whitworth Crescent eastern footway, adjacent to the verge between Whitworth Crescent and A3035 Cobden Avenue.

"A signed vehicle diversion route will be in place via St Catherine's Road. Pedestrian and cyclist access will always be maintained where possible."
Another view of the wall, from the other side. But what was it for?
