It kicks off on Friday (Feb 12) ready for the half-term break (Feb 15-19), and has not only offered an activity for children (of all ages) to create displays for gardens or windows, but it could also offer a focus while exercising around the area.
An online (and soon to follow hard copy) map has been created to show the Lego locations.
"It's half term and there's nothing for the kids to do," said organiser Naomi Dawson, who runs online group Bitterne Park Family Fun.
A competition for the best Lego displays runs in tandem with the activities, with prizes donated by local businesses.
"What we're also encouraging everyone in Southampton to do is submit a photo of their own Lego creation, or a video... and they'll submit that via our Facebook page.
"And then on Sunday 21st we've got a friend who's a Lego genius, and he's going to do the judging, and will choose winners for Best Child, Best Adult, Best Video and Best Hidden Lego Creation," said Naomi.
"We've got some really good prizes from local businesses, that have donated kindly, so we're trying to support and promote local businesses at the same time."
Naomi said that going by social media stats the idea was proving very popular.
"I think we'll get quite a few people submitting entries across Southampton," she said. "We kind of wanted it to be wider than just where we live."
Through the Lego trail the group is also promoting a Give4forTier4 campaign which asks for donations of £4 to give a "gift bag" to an NHS worker. Naomi said so far 107 bags have been sent to staff at the General Hospital.
