We went to investigate, following a tip from @Eor_deLampe, and recorded the clock emitting only eleven bongs at midday on Saturday (Feb 20).
Ah, I've noticed this for at least a couple of weeks.

We understand the clock has only recently been serviced - although the clock faces are still not illuminated after dark.
Regular readers will remember the 'clockgate crisis' of 2014, when chimes were reportedly two hours behind actual time.
And in 2013 Triangle time stood still at 12 o'clock when six pigeons laid eggs amongst the works.
The council is said to be investigating the current fault.
We'll keep you up to date. er, round the clock, with any developments [Unless we're having some much needed time off from running this website! Ed].
