Vandalism reported at model railway in Riverside Park

steam train.460Vandalism has been reported at the ‘Riverside Parkway’ model railway station in Riverside Park tonight (April 9).

Four people were seen by a local resident at the site, with some or all attempting to cause damage.

Police arrived and reportedly apprehended three people.

David Goyder, treasurer of the Southampton Society of Model Engineers, which runs the railway, tonight said they'd been lucky because they'd been "spared the vandals for a few years" but that "it would be a pity if it was coming back".

The extent of any damage is not yet known.

Passenger services are due to resume on April 18.
