Friends of Bitterne Station say they have decided to "adopt" it as part of the Three Rivers Community Rail Partnership, which serves as a "link between the railway industry and local communities". The partnership says it does "what it can to improve our stations and services".

Friends of Bitterne Station says on its new Facebook page:

"We are taking small steps to add some wildflowers and will also organise local litter picking to make our station feel safer and our community more welcoming.

"Get in touch via our facebook page if you would like to join us. You can help regularly or simply join a community event every now and then. You can even just follow us for updates, with no further commitment. It would be great to have as many local residents as possible involved."

The group's Facebook page is here.
