Young people encouraged to email Clive

tell cliveYoung people in Southampton have been given a direct email link to the man in charge of the city’s children’s services, to encourage them to share their views on everything from education to out-of-school activities and how the council is run.

The ‘Tell Clive’ email address, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., gives children and young people across the city access to Clive Webster, Southampton City Council’s Director for Children’s Services.

Clive is responsible for everything from children’s social care to schools and youth clubs, so he is keen to give young people the opportunity to say what they think about these services and the city.

Clive said: “It’s vital to keep in touch with the children and young people who benefit from our services and, just as importantly, those who feel they don’t. So we are committed to providing as many opportunities as possible for children and young people to air their views.”

“We know that when children and young people have something to say they usually want to say it straight away,” explained Clive. “If they have to wait to speak to someone or think the person they contact won’t take them seriously, their information and suggestions are often lost.”

The email address is being promoted through schools, residential homes and youth clubs, which have been sent posters and postcards with details of the campaign.

Clive says he will be answering as many emails as possible, but he also has a team of helpers on hand to make sure no email goes unanswered.
