Alan Whitehead, MP for Southampton Test, will be lobbied on Monday March 31 as part of the Climate Change Bill Week of Action (Sunday March 30 to Saturday April 5) . Organisers want MPs to publicly pledge their support for a “Climate Bill with bite”.
They want Alan Whitehead to sign a pledge card, demanding measures that include:
- increasing the 2050 carbon dioxide reduction target from 60 to at least 80%
- ensuring the UK's share of emissions from international aviation and shipping are included in the reduction targets
Organisers say the event is a good opportunity to influence the decisions surrounding the Bill, and are inviting the public to come with questions or to just show support. The event starts at 10am promptly at the Students’ Union building, University of Southampton in Highfield, and will last about an hour.
Fair Trade Refreshments will be available.
