A new guide to childcare and services for children and families in Southampton is being launched on the internet on 28 September.
www.southamptonchildcare.org.uk has been developed by Southampton Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership, along with Southampton City Council and the Children`s Information Service (CIS), to provide families with the most up-to-date information about nurseries, childminders and pre-schools and out of school care. Searches can be made for different areas of the city, including Bitterne Park.
Families can also search for holiday and leisure activities, health information, family support and advice agencies specifically aimed their children`s age group or area of the city.
There is also a list of vacancies for people wishing to work with children and a section dedicated to childcare providers.
Councillor Ann Milton, Cabinet Member for Children`s Services and Learning, said: "Finding good quality childcare and activities for young people can be a daunting task for parents. But this new website, along with the supporting services from the Children`s Information Service, should help them make an informed decision."
The CIS can also provide information and advice from its shop in Wyndham Court, Southampton (near central train station). The shop is open Monday to Friday 8.30am until 4.30pm. Alternatively call the CIS free phone help line on 0800 169 8833.
