Safer Neighbourhood Team's July report
Read on for Bitterne Park's Safer
Neighbourhood police Team's latest report.
Update for July 08
We’d like to take this opportunity to say farewell and good luck to PCSO Kate Bohan, who has recently left the team for pastures new. Don’t worry though; Kate is soon to be replaced by PCSO Sue Evans. We’ll give you a full profile and update when Sue arrives.
Good news: theft from motor vehicles has reduced this month by 50% with 10 reported incidents. The sad thing is most of these thefts could have been avoided if drivers and passengers remembered to remove all valuables when leaving their vehicle unattended. Don’t supply thieves with the opportunity.
Continue to be vigilant this summer; dwelling burglaries are slightly down on last month with three reported incidents; however non-dwelling burglaries remain the same. During this warmer weather, windows are accidentally left open; please remember to secure them when leaving your property. If possible use timers on your lights if you know you are staying out until after dark.
Unfortunately, there have been three reports of street robberies in and around Riverside Park. We have stepped up patrols in the area to combat this increase. If you have any concerns, queries or information, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Finally, thefts of bicycles have risen to five reported incidents. Remember to lock up when you’re at home and the bicycle is in the shed or garden. This is the time when they’re most vulnerable.
Be safe.
