The call has gone out for bands and solo artists in any genre to get up and give their interpretation of an Abba track as part of a charity gig called ExtrABBAganza to be played in Portswood at the end of the year.

Organiser Craig McEwan said: "Each act will play two or three songs from the canon of the mighty Abba in a style of their choice - radical interpretations are encouraged!"

Readers may remember another Abba themed gig back in the 1980s called "Abba-ration" at the Joiners Arms which saw punk versions of Dancing Queen, heavy metal Super Troupers and a mass rock and roll choir singing "Thank You for the Music" at the end of the evening.

"I was there!" said Craig. "It was a brilliant night, and with the massive popularity of the Mama Mia movie this year it just seems the right time to be doing it again".
