Saxon Weald Homes are to shortly open their doors to the public at Southampton’s first purpose-built extra care scheme, Rosebrook Court, in Beech Avenue, Bitterne Park. The show home open days are on Saturday 11 and 18 October (2008) starting at 10.00 am until 4.00 pm. {!jomcomment}
The scheme provides flats for older people with care and support needs. This means that residents benefit from the privacy and independence of their own self-contained flat, but have the peace of mind of a care team on site 24 hours a day. Extra care is a way of bridging the gap for those who need more support than is available in a traditional retirement scheme, but who do not need nursing care. This scheme also helps couples who thought they might no longer be able to live together due to one having a care need and the other able to live independently.
Communal lounge
Ten of the 33 flats will be for low-cost home ownership, through shared equity. This means you buy a 75% share of the property. The guideline price for the 75% share is Ł108,750 for a one bedroom flat, of which there are four available, and Ł131,250 for a two bedroom flat, of which there are six. Update December 2008: The next show home open day is on Saturday January 10 from 10am until 3pm. New reduced prices are now: Ł93,750 for a one bedroom flat and Ł116,250 for a two bedroom flat; this represents a 75% share of the full price and no rent is charged on the remaining 25% that Saxon Weald owns.
