The Connect2 planning application for a “boardwalk” cycle path on the west bank of the River Itchen has now been submitted.

Residents voted to win Ł450,000 lottery funding towards the million pound boardwalk scheme, which it’s hoped will open up the waterfront between Northam Bridge and Horshoe Bridge and create a cycle route potentially as far as Riverside Park.

The Council says work is due to start in April, with the opening pencilled in for October 2009.
