Save Our Skies symposium
The Campaign to Protect Rural England, Hampshire branch, is to host a transport symposium on Thursday, November 24 at Colden Common Park Pavilion, Twyford, near Winchester. The symposium will look at how emerging transport plans will affect Hampshire’s environment, including the plans for Southampton Airport expansion. Speakers include David Cummings, Managing Director of Southampton Airport.
The speakers invited to present the topics are experts in their own field and there will be good opportunity for discussion. A representative from Hampshire County Council will talk about the Local Transport Plan Review with regard to environment policy. The second speaker will be CPRE county branch chairman, Christopher Napier who will discuss an 'anti-clutter campaign' to reduce signage on rural roads. This will be followed by a presentation from the managing director, BAA Southampton Airport outlining the 25 —year plan with particular reference to public concerns relating to air and ground noise. The final presentation: "Putting the countryside back into transport policy" will be given by a representative from the CPRE national office in London.
The event will start with coffee and registration from 9.30 and there will be a buffet lunch at 13.00 with the meeting drawing to a close around 14.00. Anyone interested in attending this symposium should contact Pam Mason, administrator, CPRE Hampshire on 01962 843655.
