Local residents are coming together for a public meeting on February 24 at
7pm, to set up ‘Greening Bitterne Park’, an initiative where the community will pull together to help reduce its impact on climate change, have fun and save some money too — writes Hannah Mintram. The campaign began in Petersfield when local resident Terena Plowright decided to do something in her own town to try and ‘make a difference’. The campaign was so successful that since then many other villages and towns across the South of England and beyond are now joining together to begin to address reducing their CO2 emissions and reducing the amount of water they waste.
To kick off the campaign, we are holding a public meeting where the Greening Campaign will be explained in detail. It will be addressed by Terena Plowright, Director of the Greening Campaign who developed the campaign and has witnessed its first successes.
Those attending the meeting will be invited to help choose a number of simple actions they consider to be most relevant to the community and which will enable people to make a difference to our environment today — and long into the future.
The meeting is also open to everyone who lives or works in Bitterne Park and so all businesses, societies, churches and schools — as well as elected bodies — are invited to send a representative.
We believe this is an important campaign that could benefit us all —individuals, families, organisations, businesses and Bitterne Park as a whole. We would be delighted to see you or a representative of your organisation
The meeting will be held at Bitterne Park School on February 24 at 7pm.
